Winter Swim Lessons

Do you or your kids want to learn how to swim?  The Recreation department runs this free program at Greater Lowell Technical High School during the Winter months.
 
Lessons are Saturdays or Sundays for 25 minutes each.

The all inclusive swim lessons are for ages 2 through adult.

Parent and me and preschool classes are being offered with no testing needed.  Parents must enter the water with the child for these classes. 

Sign up for the age appropriate class below.

Adults (15+) do not need to be tested.  Sign up for the appropriate level classes below.

Solo Swim lessons begin at age 5.

4 year old children who would like to test for solo swim lessons may contact Peter at the Recreation office to inquire.

SWIM TESTING REGISTRATION BEGINS SEPTEMBER 22 FOR LOWELL RESIDENTS AND ONE WEEK LATER FOR NON-RESIDENTS, IF SPOTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE.

TESTING REGISTRATION CLOSES ON OCTOBER 13, OR WHEN FULL.


SIGN UP FOR SWIM TESTING.  Lessons are filled at testing and are filled first come first served based during testing times.  Registration only guarantees a testing time, not a swim lesson.

Process:
1.) Book a testing time.
2.) Come to testing ready to swim only at your designated time.  Once there, check in with the instructors so that they know you are in attendance.  If you are early you will need to wait until your time.
3.) When your name/number is called your group will enter the pool with the instructor.
4.) The instructor will have you perform some skills to determine your lesson level.
5.) After exiting the pool you can pick a swim time that correlates to your swim level.  Once lessons are filled you will be placed on the wait list in case we have further openings.

Classes are filled first come first serve.  Space is limited.

REGISTER FOR THE TIME YOU WOULD LIKE TO TEST.  SPOTS AND LEVELS ARE LIMITED SO NOT ALL KIDS MAY FIND A SPOT.

Saturdays lessons times will be between 10am and 2pm
Sunday Lesson times will be between 9am and 1pm

Each child will have a lesson on either Saturday or Sunday.

Session 1 October 24-December 20 (No Class November 7, Thanksgiving weekend and December 6) 

Session 2 January 9 - February 14 

Session 3 February 27-April 18 (No Class March 27th and 28th)

Classes offered 
Parent and Me Age 2-3 (Parent will enter the water with the Child)-Sundays only
Parent and Me Age 4 (Parent will enter the water with the Child)-Sundays only

Ages 5+ Solo Lessons
Level 1 Early beginner until Middle Beginner
Level 2 Middle beginner until intermediate
Level 3 Intermediate through early advanced
Level 4 Advanced
Adult Swim Lessons - Sundays only
  • Beginner adult lessons are for those who do not swim and cannot float.
  • Intermediate adult lessons will be for those who have swam before and can float and want to begin to learn strokes.
  • Advanced lessons will work on needs of each individual swimmer.
Privates as needed based on necessity

Make sure to process the $0 invoice at the end of registration. Registration is not completed if you do not receive an email receipt confirmation.

All instructors are American Red Cross Certified.

General Information

  • After creating an account, you should receive a confirmation via e-mail. This does not mean that you are registered for a program. In order to properly register for a program, you will need to log into your account, search for a program, add it into your cart, then follow the steps of the checkout process.
  • After registering for a program, you should receive an e-mail confirmation which includes the dates, times and location for the program you have registered for. If you have not received a confirmation via e-mail, you are not fully registered into the program.
